Each time you create a new page, there’s a white background by default. Whether you choose to use a solid color, a texture or even an image, you can easily add a background to your page.
What are backgrounds
The background is the part that is farthest from the viewer. It's generally a color, a photo, a pattern or a texture that is behind all the content of your page. Here are the 3 main types:
Add or remove a background
Click the Background tab on the left of the screen to pull up the background pane. At the top, you’ll see a Color palette featuring some basic colors, as well as the ones you’ve recently used in your design. Click on any of the colors to fill your design’s background with that solid color.
Below the color palette you’ll see many different background elements you can try out with on your page. To use your favorite one, simply click on it.
To remove your background, simply select it and press delete.
Change the color of a background
If you've picked a plain color background or a textured background, you can customize its color. To do so, try clicking on one of the color buttons in the color palette to see the pattern in a different color.
Use a photo as a background
Scroll further down the background pane and you’ll see photo backgrounds. These high-quality photos offer a wide variety of different textures for your designs, though you can’t customise the colors. You can sample any photo background by clicking on its picture in the background pane.
You can also use any photo element from our image library or your own uploads as a background. If you’re using your uploaded photos, click on the upload tab. Select your chosen element. Click on the element and drag the resize anchors until it completely fills your page. Once you’ve filled the entire page, click on the element and on arrange. Then, click on Back until the image becomes the background.
To apply a filter to your background image, click on your background photo and then on the Filter option on the editor toolbar. You'll see all the different filters you can apply to your background. Select the one you wish to apply. Done! If needed, you can still adjust any filter you like.
Create a background with elements
Click on the Elements tab. This part is really fun because you get to decide which shape goes where and also change its size, color, and opacity. You also have plenty of options with regards to the placement of the images – you can overlap, scatter or arrange them neatly to form a pattern.
